So why does using the Community Foundation make sense to people?
  • We say we help people who care with causes that matter
  • Our fund holders say we make giving easy and effective.
I'd like to share a bit about the work we do in our office, day to day, "behind the scenes," that ultimately is the reason clients and their advisors see working with the Founadation as making sense.
  • We encourage donors to use charitable gift planning techniques when they make their gift to the Foundation.
    • Gifting appreciated assets to avoid capital gains taxes
    • Gifting ownership in an asset prior to a sale to avoid capital gains taxes
    • Making a split interest gift to receive income AND benefit a favored charitable cause or need. Examples are charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.
    • A charitable planned gift usually involves the assistance of one or more qualified specialists, but the Foundation can help make the process simpler
  • We help donors to make a planned gift through their estate to the Foundation.
    • A planned gift is as simple as a bequest stated in a will or trust
    • The Foundation helps make the planned gift more meaningful by helping donors incorporate their personal values, and family and financial goals.
    • The Foundation works with a client's professional advisors to suggest ways a planned gift can be made to maximize tax benefits.
  • We work with donors and their families and/or advisors as their personal philanthropic advisor to help with their giving.
    • We help them develop their own giving plan to accomplish their charitable goals
    • We help them craft giving and/or scholarship programs unique to their goals
    • We investigate charities per their request to educate them about which charities are the most cost effective and best at achievement of their mission
    • We follow up on grants to see how the donors goals were met and report back our findings.
    • We do much more. Philanthropic advising is a very personal service. We work closely with clients to achieve their goals, whatever they may be.
These services are indeed unique in our community. Please consider recommending the Foundation to someone you know who is charitable. There is more to our services than most people know and once they learn more, they benefit, the Foundation benefits, and of course, the community benefits.
